Carbondale - Harold Anson Fite Sr. passed away on December 12th in Carbondale. He was born in Illinois July 13, 1929. Harold married Mary K Brown December 2nd 1950. Harold worked for CIPS for many years. He was a member of IEBW Local 702. He was also a faithful member of the United Pentecostal Church in Carbondale.
Harold was a member of the Illinois Army National Guard, activated into the US Army to serve in Korea, serving honorably in defense of freedom and democracy.
Harold is survived by his wife of 70 years Mary K Fite, three children Constance Scoggins of Tampa FL, Harold Fite Jr of Murphysboro and Douglas Fite of Chesterfield MO, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and sister Imogene Futrell of Marion.
The public viewing for Harold is December 18th from 9 am to 11 am at Meredith Funeral Home. Ten people will be allowed in the building at any one time due to Covid restrictions. He will be interred at 12 pm at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale with Pastor Darrin Weddle officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Army National Guard and Murphysboro American Legion Post 127. Due to Illinois Department of Public Health restrictions, friends may pay their respects at Oakland Cemetery after interment and after the family has left the cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be given to the Apostolic Life Church of Carbondale. Contributions will be accepted at Meredith Funeral Home.
