Glen B. Gale

Vergennes - Glen B. Gale, 85, of Vergennes, passed away at 6:14 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Glen was born October 12, 1928 in Jacob, to Albert and Mamie (Butler) Gale. He married his first wife, V. Lenora Chamness on June 24, 1950 in Murphysboro. She preceded him in death on June 14, 1980. He then married Betty J. Carr on February 27, 1982 in Paducah, KY. She survives and is of Vergennes. Other survivors include, two daughters, Anita Gale of Metropolis and Debra (Bob) Olver of Marysville, WA; two grandsons, Nathan Eckert of Los Angeles, CA, and Keith Eckert of Marysville, WA; two step granddaughters, Barbra Leigh and Phyllis (Gary) Jones all of DuQuoin; three step grandsons, Don Funk of Carbondale, Matthew (Kathy) Jones of Tamaroa, and Devin (Elizabeth) Jones of Herrin; five great step grandchildren, Alexandra Funk of Marion, Madison and Zachary Jones of Tamaroa, Brayden Jokish and Brooklyn Jones both of Herrin; one brother, Oakley Gale of Ava; three sisters, Mary Worthen of Metropolis, Alberta Bigler of Herrin and Geraldine Dillow of Murphysboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Grover and two sisters, Emma and Theda. Glen was a livestock and grain Farmer all of his life. He had also worked at Prairie Farms Dairy in Carbondale for over 25 years until his retirement in 1973. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. A Funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, with Rev. Darryl Williams officiating. Burial will be at Murdale Gardens of Memory, Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to service time on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the American Heart Association, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
