Gladys Bandy Lovelace, 88, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Herrin Hospital with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 at the Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, with Rev. Greg Parker officiating. Interment will be at the De Soto Cemetery, De Soto. Friends may call at the Meredith Funeral Home Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to service time. Memorials to the American Heart Association or the Wounded Warrior Project are the preferred form of remembrance. Gladys was born on Nov. 28, 1926 in Jackson County, Illinois to George Allen and Lena Mable (Hill) Brewer. She married Guy E. Bandy on April 5, 1944 at Pecos, TX and he passed away on October 8, 1990. Then she married Royce Lovelace on May 6, 1996 at Paducah, KY and he passed away. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Dennis (Chipper) James of Hurst; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald E. and Kathy Bandy of De Soto; two brothers, Charles Brewer of De Soto, and Marvin Brewer of Murphysboro; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, she is preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Jerry, Jim, and George Brewer, Almina Loeh and Mary Tucker. Gladys was a member of the Hurst Christian Church and was a homemaker. She loved her family deeply especially her grandbabies. Some of her passions were traveling and antique shopping, which she did often.
