George "Bob" Kinsel

Carbondale - George Robert "Bob" Kinsel, 88, passed away at 6:00 p.m. on November 28, 2015 in Carbondale Memorial Hospital. Bob was born October 16, 1927 in Edina, Missouri to John and Edna May (Layman) Kinsel. He married Shirley Marie Lemen on January 6, 1957 at Quincy, Illinois and she precedes him in death. Bob is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, John Kinsel and Jean Ann Yang of Emerald Hills, California and Gary and Mary Kinsel of Carbondale; step-daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Earl Collins of Sugarland, Texas; four grandchildren, Ian, Aubrey, Austen and Ashlyn Kinsel; four step-grandchildren, Lauren, Scotty, Megan and Zachary Post; three sisters-in-law, Betty Kinsel of Edina, Missouri, Gloria and husband Charles DenHartog and Beth and husband Ronald Caldwell all of Monroe City, Missouri; and brother-in-law, David Lemen of Monroe City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Howard, Robert, Paul and Fred Kinsel. Bob owned and operated Kreative Kitchens by Kinsel in Macomb, Illinois for many years where he was involved in all aspects of the business including, design, sales and installation of kitchen cabinetry. Bob served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Fireman 2nd Class from 1945-46 and then the US Coast Guard Reserve until 1951. He then served in the U.S. Army as Private 1st Class from 1951-53 and then in the U.S. Army Reserve until 1956. He was a member of the American Legion Post 614. A visitation from 6-8 p.m. will be held at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale on Friday, December 4, 2015. Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and can be made to the St. Francis Care Animal Shelter, 6228 Country Club Rd; Murphysboro, IL 62966. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the funeral home.
