Genevieve Farner

Carbondale - E. Genevieve Farner, 99, passed away at 2:25 a.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at the Rehab and Nursing Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro. Genevieve was born July 13, 1914 in Carbondale, to Fred and E. Addie (Foster) Farner. After graduating high school, Genevieve worked as a Legal Secretary, and then many years as a Medical Secretary at the Carbondale Clinic from where she retired. She was a beloved friend and sister of the Carbondale Church of Christ. Genevieve is survived by a sister, E. Imogene Blomberg of Wheaton; nieces, Debbie Williams and Karen (Farner); and nephews, Randolph and Bradford Blomberg and Timothy Farner. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Fred H. Farner. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, at Carbondale Church of Christ with Mr. Steve Shaffer and Mr. Terry Taylor officiating. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, at Oakland City Cemetery, Carbondale. In lieu of flowers, contributions made in Genevieve's memory to The Night's Shield Children's Shelter in care of the Carbondale Church of Christ are appreciated.
