Frank Junior Yates

Carbondale – Frank Junior Yates, 89, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at his residence.



Frank was born on June 1, 1927 to Samuel Frank and Mae (Highland) Yates. Frank married Susan Alice Wise on September 8, 1947 in Carbondale. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2014.



Survivors include two sons, Dale (Jane) Yates of Waterloo and Jeffrey (Lynette) Yates of Carbondale; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Yates of Stillwater, MN, Jamie (Chris) Robison of Carbondale, Sarah Yates, and Julia Yates (Tyler Horn) of Waterloo; three great grandchildren, Morgan Yates, Arwen Robison, and Christopher “CJ” Robison, one sister Martha Dale of Pacific, Mo; and two sister-in-law’s, Evelyn Yates and Jane Yates.



He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Sue after 67 years of marriage, five brothers, Jack Yates, Joseph Yates, John Yates, Gene Yates, and Jesse Yates, and two sisters Margaret Kelly and Aileene Casper.



He was a member of The Ridge Church. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.



Frank worked for Coca Cola Bottling Company in Carbondale and was a fireman for the Carbondale Fire Department for 21 years. After retirement he enjoyed his cattle and hay business.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2017 at the funeral home.



Memorials to The Ridge Church Building Fund are the preferred form of remembrance and will be accepted at the funeral home.
