Elizabeth Tomac

CARBONDALE – Elizabeth “Liz” Jane Tomac, 73, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Century Assisted Living in Carbondale surrounded by her loving family.

Liz was born on January 22, 1950 in Highland Park, MI to Steven Tomac and Josephine (Hornick) Tomac. Elizabeth married William “Bill” Crimando on August 14, 1976 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.

Liz worked as a Rehabilitation Supervisor for the Jackson County Community Workshop, now known as START in Murphysboro. She then went on to work as a trainer for Region V Rehabilitation Continuing Education Program at SIU. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Liz is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bill Crimando; son, Mark Crimando; sisters, Catherine (Gary) Adler and Stephanie Cunningham; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Bruce Cunningham; and sisters-in-law, Donna Marie King and Frances Marietta Herrick.

Funeral Mass for Liz will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Robert Flannery officiating. For those that cannot attend the service, it will be live streamed on the funeral home website at www.meredithfh.com. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Liz’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the church.
