Edith Ellithorpe

CARBONDALE - Edith Ellithorpe, 101, of Carbondale, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012, 4:50 a.m. at her residence. Edith was born on October 23, 1910 in Johnson City, IL to John and Frances (Adcock) Hughes. She was united in marriage with Marshall J. Ellithorpe in September of 1939. Survivors include one son Roger J. Ellithorpe and his wife Mary, and one daughter Frances L. Anderson, one sister, Esther Kucera of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren Anna Guetersloh and Robert Ellithorpe; and one great-grandson Nolan Ryan Guetersloh. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marshall, six sisters and two brothers. Edith was employed by Boise Cascade as an envelope packer for seventeen years and retired in 1974. As per her wishes there will be not be any services. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959-5058. Arrangements are being handled by Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, IL.
