Carbondale - Edith B. Kammler, 98, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Friday, January 04, 2013, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Edith was born June 14, 1914 in Union County to William Cleveland and Carrie M (Osman) Montgomery. She married Ruben W.J. Kammler June 3, 1933 in Anna. He preceded her in death in 1966. Survivors include her son, David (Ruth) Kammler of Carbondale; daughters, Marian Leftwich and Kathy (Dr. David) Clutts all of Carbondale; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Edith is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Zelma Campbell and brother-in-law, Clarence Campbell, and a son-in-law, Eugene L. Leftwich. She was a member of Lakeland Baptist Church in Carbondale and worked as an Elementary School Teacher for District 110 in Fairview Heights for 31 years until her retirement in 1983. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Lakeland Baptist Church in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance, and may be made to the Association of Baptist for World Evangelism, Inc., or The Lottie Moon Mission Offering and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale.
