Earnest Ray Shingleton

Carterville – Earnest Ray Shingleton, 71, of Carterville, passed away at 12:49 p.m., on August 23, 2016 at Franklin County Hospital in Benton, Illinois.



Ray was born February 6, 1945 in Union County to Earnest and Janet (Bryant) Shingleton.



Survivors include his sisters, Sharon Dorris of Carbondale, Tresea Shingleton of DeSoto and Paula Ellis of DeSoto; daughter, Kimberly; one nephew; several nieces; and many great nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patty Dickerson and Vicky Cole; brothers, James, Lloyd and Bruce Shingleton and nephew, Jon Shingleton.



Ray worked as truck driver for Dorris Trucking in Sesser for many years. He loved all animals and had several pets. He especially loved and adored all his many cats.



A graveside service for Ray will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26 at Alto Pass Cemetery in Alto Pass, and will be officiated by Rev. John Annable. A time of visitation will be held before the service on Friday from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the cemetery.
