Dwain was born on February 20, 1960, to Gerald D. Forby and Peggy Lou (McGee) in Carbondale, Illinois.
Survivors include Dwain’s son, Eric Forby (Bonnie); daughter Angela Knaub (Markus); daughter Katie Milton (Brad); grandsons, Jacob and Sam Forby, and Niko and Kayson Knaub; mother, Peggy; sister, Karen Brown (Mike); brothers, Russell, Neal, and Lyndon (Karri); and several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dwain was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Marci Kristine; his father, Gerald; an infant brother, Michael; and sisters-in-law and dear friends, Linda Hagler and Brenda Hagler.
Dwain was a 1978 graduate of Carbondale Community High School and completed an associate degree at John A. Logan College. He was a member of the trucking community for over forty-five years and was the proud owner of Dwain Forby Trucking. Dwain loved nothing more than working on his trucks and traveling the wide open road. He was a member of Union Hill Christian Church. He enjoyed bowling and had a great love for the outdoors, particularly golfing and fishing. While he was happiest fishing with his family, he had many of his own favorite fishing holes. Dwain also had a great appreciation for music and was known for sharing his favorites with family and friends. Dwain will be remembered as a free spirit with a kind and gentle heart. Godspeed, “Cannonball!”
