Dr. Maria T. Falcone

Carbondale - Maria T. Falcone, 49, of Carbondale passed away on January 23, 2016 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Born July 19, 1966 in Lima, Peru she was the daughter of Rafael A. Falcone and Maria Teresa Montalva. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Jeffrey E. Graham; her daughter Valerie Marie Graham Falcone and son Gabriel Jeffrey Graham; her sister Luisa Falcone and husband Jean Pierre Saux and their children Lucienne and Jean Phi; her brother Rafael Falcone and wife Rossana Rios and their children Rafael, Sebastian, and Francesca; her brother Roberto Falcone and wife Hannie Ramsey; mother in-law Maria E. Brehm and father in-law James E. Graham; and brother in-law Mark E. Graham. Upon graduating from medical school in Peru in 1993, Maria served her internship/residency training, including as Chief Resident, in Internal Medicine at the SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, IL until 1997. In 1997 she performed her fellowship in cardiology, including serving as Chief Fellow, at the Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. In 2000, she was employed as a Cardiologist with Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants, Ltd. in Carbondale, IL. Throughout her professional career Maria published numerous articles, served on a variety of boards and committees, and received several honors and awards. In addition to her love of her family and career as a physician, Maria enjoyed traveling, collecting fountain pens, and gardening. Her family wishes to express their tremendous pride for the unquantifiable impact Maria made in both her profession, and more importantly as a person. Her existence made all who knew her better people. Memorial services for Maria were held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Carbondale. Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the Siteman Cancer Center at 7425 Forsyth Blvd; St. Louis, MO 63105.
