Dorothy Heilig

CARBONDALE—Dorothy Heilig, 102, passed away on September 17, 2018 at Springhurst Pines in Louisville KY.



She is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Carroll) York of Louisville, KY; son, L. Linn Heilig of Provo, UT; sister, Frances Chandler of St. Louis; two grandchildren, David and Craig York; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.



Dorothy was a faithful member of the former Baptist Church located downtown next to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. She was a volunteer delivering Meals on Wheels weekly for several years, preparing after funeral meals at her church, and playing in several bridge clubs. She enjoyed traveling on bus tours with friends and cruises in the Caribbean, including a transit of the Panama Canal.



It was her wish to be cremated. A private graveside service will be held with Rev. John Annable officiating. Meredith Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.



Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the Senior Adult Services Center, 409 N Springer St., Carbondale, IL, 62901 and will also be accepted at the funeral home.
