Dorothy Calhoun

Carbondale - Dorothy Calhoun, 85, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Meredith Funeral Home, in Carbondale, with Rev. George Calhoun officiating. Interment will be at Number Eight Cemetery in Johnston City. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the funeral home. Dorothy was born December 29, 1928 to Virgil L. and Ellen Faye (Williams) Edwards in Angelville Community in Williamson County. She married Paul Laverne Calhoun in 1945 in Carbondale. He preceded her in death in August 2001. Dorothy is survived by two sisters, Wilma Staley and Katherine Coley, both of Dixon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Wesley Edwards, brother-in-law, George Staley and special niece, Jenna Kay Coley. Dorothy was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church of Carbondale. She worked for New Era Dairy as a bookkeeper and also the Baptist Association as a secretary. She will be missed by many.
