DeSoto – Doris Snider, 97, of DeSoto, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 25, 2024.
Doris was born on August 5, 1927 to Dale and Viola Knight. She was united in marriage to Ralph Snider in 1946. They shared 69 years together, before he preceded her in death in 2015.
Doris retired from Allen Industries in Herrin. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the DeSoto Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and had many friends. In her younger days she enjoyed being a hat model. She was an artist, avid reader and totally loved the competition playing games like scrabble, qwirkle, card games and dominos. Doris enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She always had room for one more at her kitchen table and always saw the goodness in everyone, no matter their walk in life.
She is survived by her children, Jeri Webb of Herrin, Scott Snider of DeSoto, Cindy (Dennis) Barnett of Desoto, Kim (Jim) Stodghill of Tampa, Florida, and Gary (Michelle) Snider of Georgia; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Betty Jennings, Frankie and Jim Holsonbake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Jere Eisenbeis; son, Larry Snider; and son-in-law, Leon Byrnes.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastors Chris Hottenson and Scott Foster officiating. Burial will follow in DeSoto Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
