Murphysboro - Doris L. Dietz, 68, of Murphysboro, passed away at 10:44 a.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at St Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2012 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, with Pastor Ken Staib officiating. Interment will be at Indian Hill Cemetery in DeSoto. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Doris was born August 1, 1944 to Darcy and Angie (Crain) Dietz in Carbondale. Survivors include, one brother, Michael Dietz and wife, Betsy, of Dongola; nephew Bill Dietz and wife, Jennifer; niece, Sandra Ripley and husband, Daniel, all of Murphysboro; nieces, Katie and Kelsie McKinney of St. Charles, Missouri; great-nieces, Jenna Dietz and Raegan Ripley; and great-nephews, Samuel Dietz and Jaeden Ripley, all of Murphysboro. She is preceded in death by her parents and foster sister, Terri McKinney. Doris lived in Jackson County all her life. She was active in 4-H and was a Junior Leader. She graduated from Murphysboro High School in 1962 and was a member of the Class Reunion Committee; and was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Murphysboro. She worked 32 years for Country Companies Insurance and worked 13 years for J.T. Blankinship, Inc. in Murphysboro, until her retirement on December 31, 2009. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance, and may be made out to either the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, of Murphysboro, or Indian Hill Cemetery, of DeSoto, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
