Donna Lynn Hicks

CARBONDALE - Donna Lynn Hicks, 75, of Carbondale, went home to be with the Lord on May 12, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.



Donna was born on March 9, 1947 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Wayne and Mary (Reece) Piercy. Donna married Paul Hicks on June 7, 1969 at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Carbondale.



Donna taught for 33 years at Herrin Elementary until her retirement to care for her beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts, especially scrapbooking and making blankets. Donna was the author of two children's books. Most of all Donna loved spending time with her grandkids and family.



Donna is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Paul Hicks; sons, Bradley Hicks, and Chad (Amy) Hicks; grandchildren, Logan, Ryan, Carson, Camden, and Ashlynn Hicks; sister, Susan (Carl) Sanders; and sister-in-law, Pat (Jim) Nold.



She was preceded in death by her parents.



Funeral services for Donna will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022, at Murdale Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery, Carterville. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Murdale Baptist Church.



Memorials may be made in Donna's name to Murdale Baptist Church.
