Donna G. Hughes

Grand Tower - Donna G. Hughes, 67, of Grand Tower, passed away at her home with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Donna was born November 28, 1947 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Earl and La Verne (Snell) Hill. She married Willis Hughes Jr. on June 11, 1965 in Jacob. Together they shared 49 years of marriage. Donna is survived by her beloved husband, Willis of Grand Tower; a son, Shannon (Tonia) Hughes of Grand Tower; a daughter, Dawn Glidewell of Grand Tower; two grandsons, Tyler Glidewell of Wolf Lake, and Haegan Hughes of Grand Tower; brother, Gary (Ann) Hill; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Allan) Mezo and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Donna was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Jacob. Volunteered for the Grand Tower Ambulance as an EMT, and was the co-founder of the Grand Tower Library. She was the Postmaster at the Grand Tower Post Office until her retirement in 2008. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Meredith Grand Tower Chapel in Grand Tower. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob, with an hour long visitation prior to the service, with Rev. Mike Kettner officiating. Interment will be held at Goodbread Cemetery off of Happy Hollow Road. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Christ Lutheran School or Christ Lutheran Church, and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home.
