Donald G Hagler

CARBONDALE - Donald G. Hagler, 82, passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his residence. Donald was born July 22, 1930 to William Howard and Mayme Ethel (Gaston) Hagler in Makanda. He married Beulah Irene McDaniel on January 27, 1950 in Carbondale. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Alan Diedrick of Carbondale; two grandchildren, Brian and wife Jessica Diedrick of Los Angeles, CA., and Sara Ollech of Marion; and many nephews and nieces. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beulah, one son, Denny, one daughter, Sherry Lynn, two brothers and four sisters. He was in the Navy and was a Mail Carrier for 31 years at the U.S. Post Office, until his retirement on July 28, 1989. He was a member of the Letter's Carrier Union since 1959, and was of Protestant faith. Per Donald's wishes he was cremated. There will be a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Oakland Cemetery with Reverend Everett Freeman officiating. Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or St Francis Care Animal Shelter and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge his caregivers, and the caring support staff at Hospice of Southern Illinois.
