West Frankfort - Don "Pipes" Barr Jr., 56, of West Frankfort, passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at his residence. Don was born July 31, 1956 in Johnstown, PA, to Donald Lee and Sally Jo (Hawksworth) Barr Sr. Sally survives and is of Nanty Glo, PA. He married Michele Ann Bishop on October 31, 1994 in Paducah, KY. She survives and is of West Frankfort. Other survivors include, one daughter, Morgan Barr of West Frankfort; two sons, Ruben Ray (Joyce) Barr of Benton and Dan Cessna of Tyrone, PA; one brother, Adam Barr of Nanty Glo, PA; one sister, Shelley Fyock of Nanty Glo, PA; one half sister, Sarah Stephenson of Utahville, PA; five grandchildren, Glen Hayden Lee Ray, Ashton and Chase Cessna, and Chris and Tatum Smith; mother-in-law, Betty Bishop of Pope county; brother-in-law, Glen L. Bishop II; sisters-in-law, Sherrie McCloud and Glenda Clark; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Barr Sr., father-in-law, Glen L. Bishop I, all his grandparents and a brother-in-law, Les Fyock. Don served in the Navy from August 1974 until August 1976 and was on the USS John F. Kennedy Air Craft Carrier. He worked as a Boiler Plant Operator for the Marion VA Medical Center for 17 years and was of Protestant Faith. He was a Brother of the Second Brigade Motorcycle Club, former member of the Band of Brothers Motorcycle Club and the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club. He was also a member of the APA Pool League and the AFGE Union. Don enjoyed camping and fishing with family, and loved riding his motorcycle with his wife and friends. He was a wonderful husband and father, and will be greatly missed. It was Don's wishes to be cremated. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a Eulogy Service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the family. Meredith Funeral Home will accept the memorial donations.
