David Wayne Howard

CARBONDALE - David Wayne Howard, age 64, died on June 5, 2019 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, IL after a struggle with pneumonia & complications of pulmonary fibrosis. He was born July 20, 1954 in Denver, CO to Eugene & Dorothy (Colby) Howard and was the third of four children (Kenneth, Rodger, David, & James). After graduating Englewood High School (CO), he attended Mesa College (Grand Junction, CO). David was very proud of his two children, Jonna Kellis Howard-Kosmicki & Eric David Howard. David married Donna Rae (Burr) Howard on February 27, 1982. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage during which he was a loving and caring husband. They lived in the Castle Rock, CO area until moving to Carbondale, IL December 2014. In 1982, He was employed by Douglas County Road and Bridge Dept. where he enjoyed snow plowing roads. He later transferred to the Building Dept. in which he inspected new construction homes and became a Plans Review Supervisor. He took a medical disability retirement in 2009. David enjoyed camping, Model N gauge trains, fly fishing, & wood working before tremors & pulmonary fibrosis limited his ability to continue. David was preceded in death by his parents, & brother James.



He is survived by his wife, two children, four grandchildren (Andrew, Lexie, Ethan(Jonna) & Quinn(Eric)), two brothers, four sister-in-laws (Sharla Howard, Barbara James, Shirley Gillette, Elaine Guffey), three brother-in-laws (Riley Barker, Glenn Gillette, Daryl Guffey), multiple nieces, nephews, & cousins.



Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 880 E. Wolfensburger Rd. Castle Rock, CO 80109

On July 20, 2019, family and friends will celebrate his life at a 1:30pm luncheon at Pegasus Restaurant, 313 Jerry St., Castle Rock, CO. This is our favorite restaurant. His favorites were a Greek Salad no onion with souvlaki no gyro, a country burrito, or a breakfast burrito with green chili.
