On Friday, April 3, 2015, David James Kaye, 61 of Carbondale, Illinois took his final journey on the ambulance to be greeted by his Lord and Savior. The celebration of his life will begin with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015, at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, in Carbondale First United Methodist Church. Visitation will also be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Pastor Alan Rhein and Rabbi Moshe Laurie will officiate. Interment with military rites will be in Dillinger Cemetery. David was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 21, 1953 to David and Patricia Kaye. He married Angela K. Reynolds Frick on July 10, 1993. They shared over 21 years of marriage. He leaves to cherish all of his love in memory to his wife Angie Kaye, step son Shadi Frick (Karen) of Carbondale, Illinois, his two most loved and dearest grandchildren Lexi M. Frick and Logan M. Frick also of Carbondale. He will always be Papa to them. In addition he leaves his brother Daniel (Lynn) Kaye of Bartlett, Illinois, niece Kristin Kaye (Kevin) Whittle and nephews Robert Kaye, Marc Kaye, nieces Kerri Kaye and Rene Kaye all of Chicago, IL, And finally his beloved dog "Sammy." Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Dana Kaye. David was a paramedic for over 30 years in Southern Illinois and was currently working for Williamson County Ambulance. He loved and cherished the work he did. He was a paramedic instructor and loved teaching others his craft. He truly cared for all of his patients showing love and compassion. David was a Vietnam veteran and a member of the Murphysboro American Legion Club. He was born and raised Jewish and converted to Christianity early in his life. He attended worship at Elkville United Methodist Church and was a member of Congregation Adat Ariel in Marion, Illinois. David was a kind and compassionate person. He loved helping others and in helping animals especially dogs. He was a big supporter of St. Francis Animal Rescue in Murphysboro, Illinois and This Able Veterans in Carbondale. Memorial donations made be made in his honor and memory to his wife Angela Kaye at the funeral home or service.
