Murphysboro - Cora A. (Eaton) Patterson, 95, formerly of Worland and Cody, Wyoming, went to be with her Lord at 9:05 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at St Joseph Memorial Hospital. Cora was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Charles and Laura Eaton. She graduated from high school and the State University of Iowa, in Iowa City, Iowa. She married Harold F. Patterson on July 21, 1940 in Illinois. They lived in Iowa, Colorado, and Worland and Cody, Wyoming. Cora was a homemaker who loved the Lord, her family, her friends, flowers, reading, literature and history, and was fond of cats. She was a person of strong personal faith and was a member of Victory Fellowship Church in Cody, Wyoming. She moved to Illinois in 2003 and last attended the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale. She is survived by her children; Barb (Doug) Bedient of Murphysboro, Ruth (Ivor) Newsham of Bourbonnais, Glenn (Jan) Patterson of Sun City, Arizona, and Charles (Cindy) Patterson of Billings, Montana; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and her husband. Cora's wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial service will be at a later date. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Feed the Children, First United Methodist Church, or American Bible Society (ABS) and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale.
