DeSoto – Connie “Cookie” Gentry, 66, of DeSoto, passed away on December 13, 2016, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Connie was born on August 30, 1950, in St. Louis, MO, to Rollie Earl and Annadell (Schroeder) Sullivan. She married James Phillip Gentry, on May 29, 1976 in Murphysboro. He survives and is of DeSoto.
Other survivors include her son, James Paul (Jay) Gentry of Marion; daughter, Vicki Lynn (Terry) Harger of Herrin, brother Rodney Earl Sullivan of Herrin, three sisters, Patricia Ann Finney of St. Louis; Bonita Lee Fox (Lonnie) Fox of Goreville, and Colleen Rose (Jerry) Hall of Herrin; four grandchildren, McKenzie Danille Cook, Zachary Lawrence Harger, Caleb Phillip Gentry, and Kyle Robert Gentry. Other survivors include one sister-in-law Carolyn Sue McDaniel of Carbondale, nephew Ryan McDaniel of Gulfport, MS, niece Sarah Lesniak of Columbus, MS; April Ramos of Vasalia, CA; and other nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ann and Rolla Sullivan; and mother-in-law Lola Smith.
She was a member of Lakeland Baptist Church and enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren, RV camping, riding their Harley, and her dog “Benji.”
Funeral services will be held Saturday December 17, at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeland Baptist Church with the Reverend Phil Nelson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 16, from 4-7:00 p.m. at Meredith Funeral Home, and from 10-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Lakeland Baptist Church.
Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and can be made to ALS Association or Lakeland Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
