Christopher J. Wisinski, Sr.

CARBONDALE - Christopher J. Wisinski, Sr. age 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Christopher was born on December 25, 1936 in Chicago to Benjamin and Loretta (Daczkiewicz) Wisinski. He married Helen F. Lisak on November 1, 1958 in Chicago.

Christopher served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 until 1955. He was a man of hard work and dedication; known for his entrepreneurial spirit he owned Jeffery Laundromat here in Carbondale for decades. 

His family was his world and his wife the love of his life for 66 years. He had three children of his own but was also the neighborhood father often seen playing with the kids, fixing bikes, motorcycles, or cars. He loved to tinker, teach and fix anything he set his mind to. He was a prankster and loved to laugh and tell jokes. He also loved music and dancing with Helen.

He was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was always full of compassion and would help anyone in need.

He is survived by his devoted spouse Helen Wisinski; loving children, Christopher “Chip” Wisinski, Jr. and daughter Corrine Stanton, grandchildren TC, Melissa, Nicholas, Heather, Gabrielle & Blain Stanton, Colin, Cameron, Trendon, Kylee, Sierra, Morgan, & CJ Wisinski. Great Grand Children Christopher, Adelynn, Timbre, Cadence, Drew and Bennett. Christopher’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him, as his legacy of honor and service lives on in the hearts of those he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Craig Wisinski and also his sister AnnaMae.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale and from 10:00am until 11:00am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Nick Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery in Murphysboro with Military Honors.
