Charlene F. Fox

CARBONDALE – Charlene F. Fox, 83, of Carbondale passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Manor Court in Carbondale.  She was born May 29, 1934 in Carbondale. Daughter of Charles T. Williams Sr. and Allene M. (Ellis) Williams.  She married Rayburn Fox on June 2, 1957. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this summer. He survives and is of Carbondale.        



After graduating Class of ’51 from Carbondale Community High School and studying art at Southern Illinois University, she worked in the business office and outpatient surgery center at the Carbondale Clinic for over 30 years.  She retired in 1997.         



Surviving family includes her husband, Rayburn Fox; son Randall R. (wife Jill) Fox of Dayton, OH and daughter Laura F. (husband Brian) Fudacz of Schererville, IN;  brother Charles Tom (wife Shirley) Williams Jr. of Carterville; sister Jane (husband Jim) Siefert of Murphysboro; and five grandchildren, Garrett, Connor and Riley Fox and Matthew & Maggie Fudacz.       



She is preceded in death by her parents.      



She was a member of Grand Avenue Christian Church.  She was an avid gardener who took great pride in her yard, winning a Bright Spot award from the city in 2015.  She was also a talented artist who enjoyed working with watercolors.      



Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Reverend John Annable officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Monday. Burial will follow at Elkville Cemetery, Elkville.
