DESOTO - Carole R. Covington, 86, of Sullivan, formally of De Soto, passed away at 9:23 a.m., Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Carole was born April 13, 1932 in Carbondale to Thurman and Lois (Champion) Taylor. She married Elbert “Eskel” Covington on May 26, 1962 in Carbondale. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2006.
Carole was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Carbondale for many years, then a member of Jubilee Tabernacle in De Soto. She loved the Lord with all her heart and her life reflected it. Carole was a homemaker and raising her family brought her great joy. She will be remembered for her smile, sense of humor and her sweet loving ways.
Survivors include, son, Timothy L. Covington of Sullivan, IL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melody Ann and Frank Davidson of Napa, CA; and Nancy Carole and Mike McShane of Uniontown, PA; seven grandchildren, Richard and David Ross; Danielle (Michael) and Jordan (Staci) Davidson, Brandon and Kayla Covington, and Amber (Randy) Tinsman; 12 great-grandchildren; Aden, Braelyn, Jacob, Haylee, Joshua, McKenna, Lyla, Sadie, Jaycob, Logan, Warren, and Xavier; sister, Sandra and husband Jim Conaway of Decatur; nephew, Jim Conaway; and niece, Sherry Kilpatrick.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eskel; and parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 at Jubilee Tabernacle, Desoto, with Pastor Danny Norman officiating. Entombment will be held at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29 at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale and also noon to 1p.m. on Friday at the church.
