Carol Bumpus

GRAND TOWER - Carol Bumpus, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 10, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Carol was born on November 3, 1945 in Chicago, IL to Donald McPaul and Bertha (LeRoy) Lusby. Carol married George Bumpus on October 20, 1962 in Woodlawn, Illinois.

Carol was retired from her long-time profession as an insurance adjuster. Carol, and the Crain church quilt group, made quilts for the women's shelter. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, painting her 901 rocks, performing "Minnie Mae" at church services, and spending time with friends and family. Carol was a life long learner and avid reader. She loved baking and cooking, she made sure no one ever left her home hungry. She was passionate about sharing the Gospel through singing and playing the piano at church. Carol was a friend, mentor, and light to many. She was dedicated wife, involved mother, caring aunt, and amazing grandmother/great-grandma. She spread joy and love through her selfless service to others.

Carol is survived by her husband, George Bumpus; daughters, Catherine (Wayne) Newell, Carla (Mark) Lasley, Karen (TC) Schaefer; grandchildren, Lacy Scarbrough, Lindsay Boldrey, Ashtyn-Hope Thessen, George Colton Lasley, Lyndon Lasley, Christopher Ryan Schaefer, Carolyn C.J. Schaefer, great-grandchildren, Arya Thessen, Iris Thessen, Baileyan Pannell, Annalyn Pannell, and Layla Rose Scarbrough; sister, Bernice Bumgarner; and brothers, Bill Warren, James Lusby and Samuel Lusby.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services for Carol will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Walker Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Carol's name to Walker Hill Cemetery and will be accepted at the service.
