Carmen J. Davis

CARBONDALE - Carmen Joline Davis passed away January 22, 2020 @ 3:07 am at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Carmen was born to Joe J. Manus and M. Pauline Chapman Manus on November 18, 1942 in Holden Hospital, Carbondale, IL.



As a child Carmen had a regular attendance at Grace Methodist Church and in later years attended Murdale Baptist Church and the Apostolic Church in Alto Pass. Carmen attended Lincoln School, University Training School and graduated from CCHS in 1960.



In 1959 Carmen married Larry D Davis & they were later remarried in 2008. After graduation she attended VTI and moved to Blytheville, AR. She and Larry traveled throughout the US for a year when Larry took a job with AT & T. She loved to travel and meet new people. Carmen never met anyone she couldn't converse with.



When the couple moved back to Carbondale, Carmen worked as the night manager at the Wig Shop in the Murdale Shopping Center. She later went to work for the Jackson County Sheriff's Dept, she also worked as the personnel manager at K-Mart in Carbondale. She latter moved to Deadwood, SD and worked in the County Treasurer's office and was the supervisor at Casey's General Stores in SD & S. IL from 1993 until she pretty well retired because of her health.



Carmen leaves her son E. Joe (Sue) Davis, Granddaughter, Tasha (Devon) Patterson, Step granddaughters, Alyssa (Robbie) Kupferer, Lauren (Chad) Chapman, Great Granddaughter Taylor Davis, Great Grandson Dexter Patterson, Step Great Granddaughters Maddison & Hailey Kupferer, Step Great Grandsons Camden & Jameson Chapman. Carmen's family was her world. In addition, she left friends she thought so well of and her dog Sugar, her constant companion.



Preceding her in life was her husband Larry (2008) her Mother (1980) her Father (2007) Step Mother Hazel Gordon and her loyal Siberian Husky Nikki of 16 years.



A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Boskydell Church from 4 - 7 pm. Meredith Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
