Carla Jean Young walked through Heaven's gates on Tuesday morning surrounded by the love and support of her family. "MaMa Carla" as she was to so many of us, dedicated her life to spreading the Gospel of Grace to everyone wherever she went. With God as her first in life, her kids were a close second. She would spend most of her days entertaining her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. They were her world.
Carla was the daughter of Henry D Hale and Madge (Elkins) Hale. As the youngest of 12 children she often said she had bosses in every direction. Mama Carla was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Chester Hale, Lester Hale, Victor Hale, Edward Hale, Bobby Hale, and Junior Hale. She was also preceded in death by her sister Peggy Brasel.
She is survived by her brother Larry Hale and sisters, Betty Stearns, Dorthy Clark, and Patricia Eads. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Her biggest accomplishment in life was the wonderful marriage she shared for 56 years with William "Joker" Young. True love that stood the test of time and will continue to grow until they meet again. "I do love you more than tongue could ever tell."
Mama Carla is survived by her husband Joker Young and their three sons, Peppy Young, Joey Young, and Matt Young (Kim Young). She's also survived by her grandchildren: Josi Rawls (Kent Rawls), Jonni Doan (Zach Doan), Dusty Young (Mallori Young), Jayli Young, Cole Young, Charley Young, and Cassidy Young. And her great-grandchildren: Colt and Reagan Doan, Kylee and Kenli Rawls, Maci Harmon and McCoy Young.
For 23 years Carla drove the students of Giant City School while working for West Bus Service. She would share memories with her students long after they graduated about those bus rides. Family, love, and tradition were core beliefs to Mama Carla. Whether you were one of the many guests to join in on her famous "Thursday night dinners" or one of the students on her bus route, you knew the joy and selflessness that she brought to the world.
She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. Her visitation service will be held on Friday, December 2nd at Meredith Funeral Home from 4 PM to 7 PM. The funeral will be Saturday, December 3rd at 11 AM. Please make memorials to Southern Range Cowboy Church.
