GRAND TOWER - Carl "Dump" Wilson, age 87, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Marion VA Medical Center. 

Carl was born on September 4, 1936 in Wittenberg, MO to Harold and Della (Strickland) Wilson. Carl married Mary Wilson on March 6, 1965, in Lockport, IL. 

Carl served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 - 1962. He worked as a firefighter for the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant in Wilmington, IL. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

Carl is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Jim (Paula Szymanski) and Steve (Andrea) Wilson; nieces, Carla (Chris) Caroll and Luanne (Mike) Burdick; cousin Judy (Fred) Eggley; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, as well as Murphy and Hailey, his canine and feline companions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, June and Dale Bludworth, Dottie and Jim Miles; and close family friend James Rainey Poe.

A time of visitation will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 10:00 AM until approximately 11:45 AM. A Memorial Service for Carl will begin immediately after, starting at 11:45 AM with Masonic Rites, followed by the memorial service and concluding with Military Honors--all at the Meredith Funeral Chapel in Grand Tower. Private burial of his cremated remains at Walker Hill Cemetery in Grand Tower will be held at a later date. 

 Memorials may be made in Carl's name to the American Lung Association at lung.org.
