Carl Gene Berkey

Makanda - Carl Gene Berkey, 68, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Carbondale Rehab & Nursing Center of Carbondale. Carl Gene was born January 17, 1947 in Carbondale to D. Carl and Imogene (Davis) Berkey. He is survived by his mother, Imogene, of Carbondale; daughter, Danielle (Philip) Hindman of Murphysboro; sister, Marla (John) Owens of Cedar Rapids, IA; four grandchildren; and a very special cousin, David Davis, who kept him company. His father preceded him in death. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Union Hill Christian Church, 701 Union Hill Rd, Carbondale, IL 62901. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Meredith Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
