Caleb Adam Raber

Caleb Adam Raber, 30, of Grand Tower, passed away 11:35 a.m. at his residence on Friday, January 17, 2014. Funeral services for Caleb will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Meredith Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Tower with Pastor Richard Pyatt officiating. Friends may call on Monday, January 20, 2014, at Shawnee North Grade School in Grand Tower from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Walker Hill Cemetery, Grand Tower. Memorials to Shawnee Athletic Club for the Baseball and Basketball Programs are the preferred form of remembrance and will be accepted by the funeral home personnel. Caleb was born on April 24, 1983, in Carbondale, Illinois. His parents are Melvin and Janice Raber of Grand Tower. Caleb was a livestock farmer and a member of the Grand Tower United Methodist Church. He formerly worked at Silkworm, Dyno Nobel, and Christian Karg Farms. Survivors include his parents, Melvin and Janice Raber of Grand Tower; Grandfather Russell Mezo of Grand Tower; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends, including a special friend, Chris Oyler. Preceding Caleb in death are his paternal grandparents, Otto and Annie Raber, and his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Mezo. In celebration of Caleb's life, his family would like everyone to wear Cardinal clothes or at least be casual and not dress up. Caleb loved sports - especially his Cardinals. He was very active in sports in school, including the basketball team and the baseball team, where he played the position of catcher. He also served as Senior Class as President for the class of 2001. He loved to deer hunt and attend rock concerts. Caleb had a dog named Trooper. Caleb always had a smile on his face for his family and friends.
