Brian Keith Halteman

Brian Keith Halteman, 55, of Carbondale passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Brian was born on Thursday, February 21, 1957 in Kankakee, IL to Paul Keith and Bobbie Dee (Brooks) Halteman. He married Rannetta LaMontagne in Kankakee on May 23, 1979. He is survived by his wife Rannetta Halteman of Carbondale, two sons and daughters-in-law; Jason and Stacey Halteman of Columbia, IL, and Justin and Andrea Halteman of Carbondale; three grandchildren Joshua, Sean and Nicholas Halteman; his mother Bobbie Halteman of Carbondale; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Barbara Halteman of Normal, IL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Angela and Jay Burch of Santa Clause, IN, and Rachel and Michael Thompson of Burr Ridge, IL and other family members. Brian is preceded in death by his father Keith, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Adhemar and Annette LaMontagne. Brian loved hunting and fishing and was fearless with his outdoors activities. He was a member of the Ducks Unlimited and a supporter of Disabled Veterans of America. Brian was also a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kankakee and the Vice President of the family business. He was a leader within his family and had a heart of gold. Brian loved being with his family and friends and his magnetic personality drew acquaintances to become friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Lakeland Baptist in Carbondale with Rev. Phil Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory, Carbondale. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2012 at Meredith Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family for the purchase of a headstone for Brian and will be accepted at the funeral home.
