Bobbie Dee Halteman

Bobbie Dee Halteman, 77, of Carbondale, went home to be with the Lord at 12:02 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Parkway Manor, Marion, IL. Bobbie was born on December 4, 1934 in Anna, to Dewey and Margaret Ann (Pender) Brooks. Bobbie married Paul Keith Halteman on December 24, 1955 at the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. He passed away on February 21, 2010. She is also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Brian Keith Halteman; and three sisters; Norma Worthington, Betty Brooks, and Mary English. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David Jay and Barbara Halteman of Normal; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Dee and Jay Burch of Santa Claus, IN and Rachel Lee and Mike Thompson of Burr Ridge; ten grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Kevin, Rebecca and Brooke Halteman, Tirey and Kaley Burch, and Natalya, Auden, and Noah Thompson; three great grandchildren, Joshua, Sean, and Nicholas Halteman; one sister, Sherry Thrasher, Alexander, VA and many nieces and nephews. She retired as secretary of their family business in 2010. Bobbie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and loved to cook holiday meals and share her "special" recipes and travel tips with others. She was also a committed Christian and a member of Lakeland Baptist Church for many years. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Lakeland Baptist Church, Carbondale with Pastor Phil Nelson officiating. Interment will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Carbondale. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale. Memorials may be made to Lakeland Baptist Church or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted by Meredith Funeral Home.
