MURPHYSBORO – Betty Sue Watkins of Murphysboro, 82, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
Betty Sue was born on January 3, 1935 in West Frankfort to George N. and Lillian (Golden) Willard. She married James M. Watkins on March 10, 1956 in West Frankfort spending 50 wonderful golden years together until he passed away in 2006.
She is survived by her son James W. Watkins II of Carbondale and granddaughter Jamey W. Watkins of Chester. Other living survivors include, special friend, Mary Howie of Chester,Don Rice of West Frankfort, and many other dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James M. Watkins on November 30, 2006; brother, George Willard; and baby sister Patty Ann Willard.
Betty Sue worked for West Bus Service and retired from Chester Mental Health. She was a member of the University Baptist Church in Carbondale. She loved to play golf and worked passionately with arranging flowers.
Visitation for Betty Sue will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. Funeral services will be on the same day at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, with Mr. Donnie Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Boner Cemetery in West Frankfort. Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to The Poshard Foundation for Abused Children and will be accepted at the funeral home.
