CARBONDALE - Betty Lou Hartung-Kupczak, 66, of Carbondale passed away at 5:45 a.m. on December 27, 2015 at her residence. Betty was born October 9, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to James Edward and Edna Mae (Lucas) Duvall. She married George H. Kupczak in Paducah, Kentucky on December 27, 1988 and he survives. Other survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Karl Hartung of Johnston City, John (Stacy) Hartung and Steven (Charish) Kupczak both of Carbondale; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon (Brian) Payne of Johnston City, Katherine (Joe) Estes of Carbondale, and Erika (Paul) Wilcut of Marion; thirteen grandchildren, Kyle, Kristy, Samantha, Knicko, Morgan, Blake, Austin, Cullen, Madison, Lilly, Adalyn, Alexis and Brett; six great-grandchildren, Conner, Mason, Camden, Coltyn, Lyla and Trent; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles (Alice) Duvall of Minden, Nevada and James (Kathy) Duvall of Johnston City. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Jeanette and Linda and grandson, Daniel and first husband, Hans Hartung. Betty was a retired nurse and loved her family very much. She was very generous and loved by all. With her love she was the rock and glue which held her family together and was there for anyone day or night. She will be missed and loved forever. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in her name to the donor's choice. Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale is in charge of arrangements.
