Beatrice "Grandma B" Kraft

Beatrice Kraft, 91, formerly of Grand Tower passed away at 4:46 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Henry County Healthcare in Paris, TN. Beatrice was born on July 28, 1920 in New Madrid, MO to Guy and Marie Mayer. She married Claud Clifton Kraft on January 10, 1940 in Jackson, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1996. She is also preceded in death by a daughter Janice Taylor, one grandson, Bill Walker, two step brothers, Richard and Guy Edward "JE" Mayer, two infant step sisters, Barbara Jean and Jacque Elizabeth Mayer. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Jeanne Kraft of Waynesville, MO, a daughter Marian Watson and her fianc�� Roger Mayberry of Paris TN, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three step brothers; Robert Mayer, of Makanda, James Mayer of Marion, Joe Mayer of Murphysboro, and one step sister Geraldine Remrey of Clinton, IA Beatrice was very devoted to Grand Tower and was affectionately known as "Grandma B". She was selected as an "Unsung Hero" on WSIL TV for her giving spirit. She was a member of the Grand Tower Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon. She also served as secretary on the Presbytery Board. She also gave her time to the community by volunteering as an EMT in Grand Tower, and at the daycare at The Shawnee North Grade School. She was known in the community for her sewing, quilting, and gardening skills and her love for everything in nature. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 at The Presbyterian Church in Grand Tower with Tom Williams, and Zane and Betty Neely officiating. Interment will be at Walker Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Meredith Funeral Chapel, Grand Tower.
