Barbara Lee Adams

CARBONDALE - Barbara Lee Adams, 88, of Carbondale, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.



Barbara was born on October 15, 1933 in Carbondale to Rudolph and Kate (Nance) Lipe. She married John D. Adams on January 6, 1952 in Ocola, AR and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1997.



Barbara worked at a Department Store until she retired in 1986, then the remainder of her years she was a devoted housewife, raising her children. She was also member of Dutch Ridge Baptist Church in Carbondale.



Survivors include, daughter, Johnie Sue Sterczynski and husband John of Carbondale; granddaughter, Diana Dolder and husband Jon; grandson, Jason Sterczynski and wife Laura; great-grandchild, Katie Deslitch; sister, Norma Stevens of Carbondale and several nieces and nephews.



Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Brenda Adams Hoelscher; sister, Margaret King; and brothers, Willard Lipe, Wayne Lipe, William Lipe and her infant twin brothers, Lester and Chester Lipe, who died at birth.



Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Reverend Tom Stearns officiating. Interment will follow at Tripp Memorial Cemetery, Carbondale. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.



Memorials may be made to Tripp Cemetery or Dutch Ridge Church and will be accepted by the funeral home.
