Barbara Kay Millette

Barbara Kay Belford Millette passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Herrin Hospital, Herrin.   



Barb was born on August 21, 1941 to Frank and Maurine (Craig) Belford.  She married her childhood buddy, Jerry Millette in 1963. 



Barb is survived by her Daughter Camille Dorris (John) and her reason for living, her Grandchildren Ryan and Emma Dorris.  Brother-in-Law Ron Boss and several cousins, with a special cousin for her constant concern, willingness to give care if needed and close friendship, Melanie Cortelloni and her husband Gary. 



She was preceded in death by her parents, Sister Marilyn Sue Boss, an Uncle and several Aunts.  Also, a childhood friend Shannon Sims Bush. 



Barb was a lifetime resident of Carbondale.  She was self-supportive starting by mowing lawns at age 14.  During school days she worked as a carhop at the Frost Tap drive in and in the concession stand at the Varsity Theatre.  She was a Stenographer for Hartford Insurance, Co., and E.M. Webb, Engineering.  She worked at the Memorial Hospital for 30 years, with most of those years in the Human Resources Department as a Personnel Representative.   



Barb bowled on a league from the age 16 to when the bowling alley closed when she was in her 60’s.  In the past she enjoyed playing Rummy with her friends and going to the Riverboat.  She also called herself an addict to yard sales and auctions.  At her death she had a consignment booth in the Warehouse Antique Mall in Marion. 



In the past Barb was on the United Way Board and did volunteer work.  She enjoyed being her class representative for University School Total Reunion.  She was proud to be a part of the history of University School which to others is known as Pulliam Hall. 



Services will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Steve Rhodes officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. thru 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 also at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro.   



Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Carbondale Senior Citizens Center.  Envelopes will be available at the service.
