Anna Lee Hiller

MAKANDA - Anna Lee Hiller, age 91, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Herrin Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Anna Lee was born on November 13, 1933 in Makanda to Owen and Bronice (Pribble) Presley. Anna Lee married Carlos “Bud” Hiller on January 30, 1958 in Makanda. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2010.

Anna Lee worked at Unity Point School as the Head Cook and Lunch Supervisor for thirty years. She previously worked at the Carbondale Elks Club and the Glove Factory in Carbondale. Anna Lee loved to crochet blankets for anyone and everyone’s grandchildren. She was a lifelong avid reader and enjoyed word search puzzles. 

Anna Lee is survived by her daughters, Winona (Jim) Bilderback and Mary (Robert) McPherson; grandchildren, Chris Bilderback, Nikki Bilderback-Rosenthal, Alissa Steele-Hamilton, Jennifer Steele-Hall and fiancé David Riley, and Zach (Dylan) McPherson; great-grandchildren, Kadyn, Liam, Avari and Ella Hall, Bowen Riley, Thomas Rosenthal, Gwendolyn and Rylee Hamilton; and “daughter-in-law”, Debbie (Mike) Bilderback.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Hiller; parents; and sister, Juanita High-Lewis.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 4:00pm until 6:30pm at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. Per Anna Lee’s wishes, please dress casual and be prepared to celebrate her life. Private family burial will be held at Rowan Cemetery at a later date. 

Memorials may be made in Anna Lee’s name to Rowan Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
