Ann L. Ellis

Marion - Ann L. Ellis, 85, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at her home with her family and close friends by her side. Ann was born March 12, 1929, in De Soto, to Frederick Jacob Dietz and Anna Margaret (Mueller) Dietz. She worked for the Department of Agriculture at SIU as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement. She was of Lutheran faith, and was very active for many years as a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Auxiliary #2457 of Marion. She loved attending the dances on the weekends in her younger years. She is survived by her son, Randy L. Ellis of Marion; brother, Frederick J. Dietz of Springfield; sister, Betty J. Renner of Merritt Island, FL; many nieces and nephews; and beloved friends Benny and Beulah Sizemore and their family. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Darcy, Eugene and Kenneth, and one sister, Elsie. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale, with Rev. Don Fisher officiating. Burial will be at Indian Hill Cemetery in De Soto. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Indian Hill Cemetery of De Soto and will be accepted at the funeral home.
