Sand Ridge – Andrew Calvin, A.C. Snider, 78 of Sand Ridge passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 1:00 p.m. on December 31, 2016 at his home.
A.C. was born on January 6, 1938 to Roland (R.H.) and Ada (Ellet) Snider, who both preceded him in death.
He married the love of his life Dianna Hudson on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1976. She survives and is of Sand Ridge.
Survivors include one daughter, Andrea (David) Trammel of Grand Tower; three sons, Troy Snider of Plant City, FL, Rodney (Melanie) Snider of Grand Tower, and Greg (Cindy) Snider of Chester.
Other survivors include grandchildren, Patty (Steven) Hohlbaugh, Andrew (Ashley) Snider, Tyler Snider, Matthew Snider, Nathan Snider, and Gracie Snider. Step-grandchildren; Nick Minemann, Corey Minemann, Ryan Fleener, and Anna Vana. Great-grandchildren; Asher Snider, and Blake Snider. Sister-in-law; Teresa (Russel) Tripp. Brother-in-laws, Neil Hudson, Darrell (Sheila) Hudson, Troy (Sandi) Hudson, and John (Tina) Hudson. All are from Grand Tower. Several nieces and nephews, including Kelsey McMahan, Lisa Hillman, Natasha Nick, Chastity Ellet, Dustin Hudson, Cory Hudson, Evan Hudson, Hannah Trammel, Seth Hudson, Dianna Smith, April Hudson, Adam Hudson, Brooke Hudson, and Brandi Baumgarte. Great-nieces and nephews; Sierra Ellet, Aubree McMahan, Caleb Hudson, Maverick Bumgarte, Giovanni Medina, and Tristan and Dalton. He is also survived by several special cousins he thought of as his own siblings.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Gary Hudson.
A.C. worked as a repairman at the CIPS/Ameren power plant in Grand Tower, where he retired at age 62 after 32 years of working. He was a member of the IUOE Local 148 and the Jackson County Farm Bureau. He attended the Methodist Church in Grand Tower. A.C. was a hardworking man who could always fix anything. You could always catch him out in his shed building something or working on lawn mowers, which was his favorite thing to do. He had a love for Wheel Horse and John Deere Garden Tractors. He won many garden tractor pulls; which was also a passion of his. He enjoyed fishing and keeping a well-groomed lawn in his free time. He also loved taking care of his four-legged friend, Frankie; a cat he rescued.
A.C. loved life and worshipped his family. He was a great husband, father, grandpa, uncle, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed.
Funeral services for A.C. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Grand Tower with Pastor Bobbi Shultz and Richard Pyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Hill Cemetery, Grand Tower. A time of visitation will be held from 9-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the church or by the funeral home.
