DESOTO - Allen Nunnery, age 75, formerly of Grand Tower, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Allen was born on November 16, 1945 in Ridgely, TN to Chester and Willimane (Saulsberry) Nunnery. Allen married Sharon Leonard in 1992.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Nunnery; daughters, Tabitha (Bill) Merrell, Melina (Scott Henson) Howard, Stacy (Jack Armstrong) Mewes, and Chrissy (Anthony) Buie; sons, Kenneth (Jaime) Reynolds and Allen Blaine Nunnery; step-daughter, Kim Whyde and step-son, Brian Leonard; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Mae (John) Payne and Trish (Steve) Ellis; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Wanda Laskowski.
Allen served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969. He was an over the road truck driver for 30 years in Southern Illinois. He then went to work for Heartland Pump until his retirement on October 12, 2012. Allen loved listening to and singing Country Music. His all-time favorite group was Alabama.
Services for Allen will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the Meredith Grand Tower Chapel with Rev. Paul Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Hill Cemetery with full Military Rites. Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Chapel.
