Murphysboro - Alene Hanson, 93, was called home to be with her Lord and savior at 3:03 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Manor Court of Carbondale. Alene was born June 28, 1922 in Ziegler to Bill and Lela (Rushing) Bean. She married Bert "Buck" Hanson in 1941 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2000. Alene is survived by her son, Merle L., and his wife Joyce, Hanson of De Soto; 17 grandchildren, Mike and Lisa Henson of Benton, KY, Tanner, Lea and Madison Evans of Gilbertsville, KY, Bill, Dana, Ryan and Shana Dailey all of Carbondale, Bryan, Debra, Krystal and Kim Bennett all of Herrin, Leann Brandon and Blaise Dailey both of De Soto, Tommy Dailey of Gainesville, VA, and Dustin Dailey of FL; sister, Golda Russell of Herrin; nephew, Ronald, and his wife Joan, Russell of Herrin; niece, Rosemary Culp of Herrin; and several great nieces and nephews, and cousins, which she loved all so much. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vernon and Bill Bean; and two sister-in-laws, Rose and Dorothy Bean. Alene was a homemaker and of Methodist faith. She will be remembered by all as a wonderful, caring, Christian wife, mother, friend and most of all, as everyone's sweet "Granny." She has made us who we are today by filling our hearts with love and making sure our childhood days were always filled with happiness, "Granny's" love and most of all the words of God. She always put everyone else's needs before her own. She would give a stranger the shirt off her back. Her family meant everything to her and she always let us know how proud she was of all of us. A friend too many, she loved them all! Her joking fun loving ways, her sweet smile and let's not forget that beautiful curly white hair that everyone talked about; will live forever in our hearts and minds. Granny's love will be carried on forever! We love and miss you, Granny! The family would like to thank all the staff a Manor Court of Carbondale for the excellent care and concern provided to her. Join us in a celebration of Alene's life with services held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale with Reverend Joe Daniels officiating. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery of Carbondale, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bert.
