Charlie Bonds

Cambria - Charles "Charlie" Donald Bonds, 54, left to go to his heavenly home at 9:43 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with his loving family by his side. Charlie was born on September 8, 1960 in Carbondale to Donald Ray and Phyllis Irene (Robinson) Bonds. He married Sheri Lynn Reach on July 7, 2005 in New Orleans, L.A. Charlie leaves behind his loving wife, Sheri Bonds of Cambria: his son, Tyler Cox (Kassidy Cagy) of Herrin; sister, Pamela Sue (Bill) Jones of Carbondale; two grandsons, Kaden and Silas Cox both of Herrin; his father, Donald Ray Bonds of Carbondale; a niece, Kellee Jones of Carbondale; and a nephew, Bradley Jones of Jackson, MO. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis on December 11, 2001. Charlie was the owner and operator of American Towing in Carbondale. He was a member of the Professional Towing and Recovery Operators of Illinois. Charlie had a very special bond with his sister Pam, his day did not start until they had their morning phone call. He also had a very strong bond with his father Donald, he always turned to his dad for advice and respected his dads input. Charlie loved his grandsons, his grandsons referred to him as "Chief." The day was never too busy for him that he didn't take time to spend with them. They always put a sparkle in his eye. Charlie was a very caring and loving person that would always go out of his way to make a friend or family member feel special. Charlie liked spending his free time with his wife and best friend, Sheri. He would often call her when the song "Kiss an angel good morning" came on the radio and have listen to the song with him. Her parents were very happy that Sheri had found the love of her life. They enjoyed their time together bargain hunting, having cookouts for family and friends, taking cruises and Vegas vacations, and going to the casino. Often times their special friend Kathy Stewart tagging along, she is also the one who introduced this lucky couple. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale, with Pastor Tom Monroe officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the family, % Sheri Bonds and will be accepted at the funeral home.
